No dedicated Mountain Warfare or High Altitude Army unit exists.

The Australian Army does have the Army Alpine Association which trains the troops with the appropriate mountain skills.

Army Alpine Association is an authorised adventurous training association which means that it can conduct of any adventurous training activity within Australian Defence Forces.

    The Adventurous Training Wing of 1 Recruit Training Battalion at Blamey Barracks, Kapooka, NSW trains and qualifies ADF members as Unit Adventurous Training Leaders (UATLs). The role of a UATL is to conduct adventurous training for their unit and to support the conduct of adventurous training in other units. The Adventurous Training Wing qualifies UATLs in the following disciplines:
