2nd/1st Battalion, Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment (2/1 RNZIR)

RNZIR beret badge and shoulder title.
"This battalion has Alpha, Bravo and Charlie companies. It has the arctic and mountain warfare role and trains frequently in the Southern Alps and in NZ territories in Antarctica. The unit commonly uses the nickname of the 'NZ Mountaineers'. All members are required to pass the 20 week Mountain Trooper course, and the end of which they are awarded the battalion's slate grey beret and trademark peaked hat. This battalion has the reputation as being the fittest unit in the RNZDF and generates a strong contingent of potential SAS troopers every year."
